CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT

  • Confidentiality is a high priority at The Sounding Board Consulting. We will not disclose matters that are discussed within a session with a third party, without your consent. We comply with the confidentiality requirements outlined in the "Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice Handbook" created by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. The Handbook can be accessed here.

Both physical and electronic safety measures are taken to ensure that your records remain both secure and confidential. If you have any questions about confidentiality related to the storage of your records, please ask your counsellor.

While a child's right to confidentiality is respected, children are strongly encouraged to share their feelings and concerns with their parents. Open communication between children and their parents is essential to helping children heal.

NB: There are certain situations that may require us to release information without consent. These include a risk of child abuse, suicide and homicide and other circumstances that are required by law.
